Develop a strategic plan
It’s not enough just to have a strategy; it needs to be owned and understood by all; from board to staff and volunteers and it needs to be simple and clear enough for everyone to be able to identify how and why they contribute. The best strategies have been developed through collaboration, have clear and motivating goals and are deliverable. I can help you at any stage in your strategic planning journey; I can help you to develop your strategy through collaboration, facilitation and stakeholder involvement. I can help you to consider the feedback and information you have and what it means for your organisation and I can help you to write a crisp new strategy that will motivate your whole organisation.
Review your vision, mission and objectives
Regularly reviewing your vision, mission and objectives will ensure your organisation is still relevant, is focused on the right things and is delivering your charitable aims effectively. I can help you to review your vision, mission and objectives either as part of a strategic review/development process or as a precursor.
Develop your impact measures
“How will we know we’re achieving our aims?” Understanding the impact your organisation has on the people and communities you aim to support, educate or advocate for and being able to speak with confidence about that impact is worth its weight in gold. I can work with you to better describe the impact and difference you’re trying to make and to introduce both qualitative and quantitative impact measurement tools and techniques.
Develop your KPIs
How do you know whether you’re achieving your aims? What signs will you start to see? Key Performance Indicators can be really helpful in tracking progress towards your goals. I can help you navigate the sometimes complex and downright confusing web of impact measurement, target setting, goal setting and identifying KPIs.
Turn your strategy into a deliverable plan
Strategic plans should never be ‘on the shelf’ documents. They should be your handbook for success, everyone in the organisation should be able to trace their own activity and contribution directly to the strategy. Organisations often struggle with implementing a new strategy if they don’t make it what is called ‘operational’. I can help you to develop your strategy into an organisation wide operational plan that involves the whole team and avoids silos.
Strategy day facilitation
Setting aside a day or two a year for your team to think about the big picture – to imagine the future, to challenge thought and discuss barriers and opportunities is an inspiring and fruitful activity for any charity. Sometimes your CEO, senior team and board can be inhibited if they’re also facilitating the day. I can work with you to create a great, safe space for discussion and creativity and provide you with a written summary of the results with recommendations if required. Give yourself a break – let yourself fully participate in the day whilst I facilitate your away day.
